Sleep - the 'Third Pillar' of health

Sleep is considered to be the ‘third pillar’ of health after diet and exercise. We are now ‘waking up’ to the significance of sleep in relation to our health. One of the key sleep conditions falls under the term - Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) which covers all apnea conditions. This is present in approximately 30% of the adult population. It has been shown to be linked to heart disease, COPD, stroke, diabetes and cancer and can cause a range of multiple issues including daytime sleepiness, depression and dementia.
